Pogba’s Manchester United move breaks transfer records

After months of speculation, Paul Pogba has completed a record-breaking £89 million transfer to Manchester United from Juventus.

The Frenchman returns to Old Trafford following four seasons with the Italian giants, albeit earning the Italians a hefty profit of approximately £88 million.

During his time in Italy, the 23-year-old achieved a great deal of success, winning four Serie A titles, two Italian Cups, two Italian Super Cups, while making the final of the 2014/2015 UEFA Champions League, losing to Barcelona.

Pogba’s move makes him the most expensive football player of all time, topping Gareth Bale’s record transfer from Tottenham Hotspurs to Real Madrid back in 2013.

The Welsh star was brought over to Spain for a fee of £86m, which had narrowly topped Madrid’s 2009 purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo (£80m).

Prior to the purchase of Pogba, Manchester United’s highest transfer was Angel Di Maria in 2014, paying Real Madrid a total of £64m.
